LoadmaX has a number of particular features that cater for effective, industry standard, weight control procedures.

Data Import

In order to accommodate transition from weight control procedures operated based on a spreadsheet, weight item records can be loaded into the LoadmaX database from a suitably formatted file.

Weight Accuracy and Contingency

Each weight item requires the identification of a weight status and this is based on options established in a reference table.  For the selected weight status and within each discipline, an accuracy level is set by defining the contingency percentage to be added to basic weights.  The standard weight report shows the Gross weight with the applied percentages as well as the Base weight.

The weight accuracy reference table allows sets of records to be defined for bulk material (steel, pipe, cable etc) and for equipment items.  The levels of accuracy for bulk items may then vary according to the quality of the design so high percentages can be set to the weight accuracy for preliminary / conceptual design stages whereas at ‘approved for construction’ (AFC) stage the percentage accuracy need only account for manufacturing dimension / thickness tolerances and possibly welds / paint coats.  For equipment, accuracies may vary based on the source of weight data; from the conceptual estimate for an item through the nominal design weight provided by the selected equipment vendor to an ‘as weighed’ value.

The initial entry of weight item data applies a default weight accuracy option that need only be changed if required.  Hence, the application of weight accuracy procedures can be very simple.

Change Proposals

For an existing structure, any number of change proposals can be defined and item details can be entered within a change proposal with weight and centre of gravity coordinates.  Change proposal items can cater for new items or items to be removed.  In combination with weight item assignment to load case(s), a weight report can be produced that will show the weight and CoG status with or without active change proposals that are not yet installed.

Using the LoadmaX change proposal feature allows different configuration options to be assessed before promoting one of the change proposals to an installed condition.
